Mobile Cinema Units for Refugee Camps!
Projektbeschreibung
In response to the ever-worsening plight endured by children living in refugee camps, the Cinema for Peace Foundation has launched Cinema for Refugees. This initiative involves using the medium of film to provide psychological relief, entertainment and escapism to children living in refugee camps in places such as Syria, Jordan and Turkey.
On occasion of the World Humanitarian Summit, Cinema for Peace, in cooperation with Global Citizen and Small Projects Istanbul, hosted a special screening of the film 'Shaun the Sheep' for over 300 refugee children between the age of 3 and 10 at the Kadir Has University in Istanbul. Our honorary guest of this event was Nobel Peace Prize laureate and human rights activist Kailash Satyarthi. This project endeavored to bring public attention to the urgent matter of 'Education in Emergencies‘ and to offer a few moments of psychological relief to the children.
Cinema for Peace uses the power of film and media to transcend language and literacy, bringing life-saving information, psychological relief and much-needed hope to refugees and other communities in need around the globe.
In order to do so, we need your help to finance further mobile cinema units!
